All colors are the friends of their neighbors and the lovers of their opposites.

I took these pictures of a balloon that I bought a little while ago that seemingly lasted forever. The same balloon has since been popped and sucked of it's remaining helium.... Haha. I thought this would be a good way to commemorate it's earlier grandeur.

It was quite lovely when the light hit it the right way. Can't go wrong with rainbow sparkles.

So, I thought I'd just do a quickie since I think they turned out pretty neat. :)

Beneath The Surface

So, I am officially done my first official water color painting! :D It took me a bit longer to finish than I anticipated, but I am really happy with it! Maybe I'll even frame it, who knows. ^_^ Haha.

This all started with a poem I wrote one early fall afternoon while I was sitting on my deck looking at the trees. As I was admiring them, a thought suddenly popped in my head: There is so much more under the ground that I can't see. Then I began to imagine what it looked like.

And then, after some thought, I realized most things are like that - both literally and figuratively speaking. Anyone can look at my outside form and observe me, but, there is so much more on the inside that they can't see. When was the last time you looked at a person and wondered what their kidneys look like... what the unique shape of their liver is... what part of the cycle their heart is in... how many different interatctions exist in the complexities of their brain?? But, these things are all there so beautifly working away, keeping that person alive and in their current observable state despite how much appreciation or thought they may recieve. And, we all have so many thoughts, opinions, feelings, experiences, and ideas that would forever go unseen unless we somehow express them.

So, this is all sort of where I got the idea for the name of my blog - I am showing you a tiny portion of what lies benath my surface. :)

Here is the poem that started it all:

"Beneath The Surface"

Today, I looked at a tree
It’s trunk was strong
It’s branches were reaching out so determinedly
As they attempted to touch the sun
The bark showed signs of being weathered
It’s own unique pattern of lines and scars forever etched in
This tree has lived

The wind blew, and it danced
I watched a few leaves fall and admired their color
Each distinctly different in their own way
The color, the shape, the way they floated to the ground
So many await their chance at flight
Clinging on to familiarity only for a little longer
This tree is beautiful

I can’t help but wonder
What lies beneath the surface …
All of the life and beauty that is unexposed

I made a sketch to go with the poem, which inspired me to do the painting:

Falling for Fall.

Just a quickie post while I'm still working on my current watercolor.

I took these pictures last week in my front and back yard and thought I'd share them. I fall in love with fall all over every year. <3

Can you see the horse that lives across the street?! :D

The trees in our back yard are so fantastic. <3

I love autumn leaves on blue skys.

It's almost like its on fire... LOVE this one. <3

I was having fun with the framing effect of the closer leaves. ^_^

I'll have more posts this week! Keep your eyes open!!

My first blog post

So, I've decided to make this blog for a bunch of reasons. Mainly, I am hoping to use it as sort of an "archival" for all things of artistic nature that I may decide to dabble in: drawing, painting, poetry, singing, photography, philosophy, writing and anything else that I may come across and think would be worth exploring. Projects of my own, as well as other people's work that I come across and enjoy or think interesting. I want to spend time doing things that I've done in the past like music and photography, as well as new things like my most recent hobby of watercolor painting. Plus, there is just so much out there that I could do and love that I have no idea about, so I hope to also take any and all suggestions!! I just want to keep the creativity in my life flowing, and with this blog I will be able to store it, share it, and get feedback and new ideas! I also hope to inspire others to get out there and get in to something fun and new! There are things only you can create that people will never see/hear/read/think about unless you go do and share them!!

So, I really think this will be a great thing and I am excited about it. It is an incentive for me. A collection of beauty. A means to inspire. A reason and reminder to be proud.

I hope that you enjoy it!! <3

My first art post is of my very first "official" watercolor painting. I recently decided to pick up a new hobby (something to keep my creative juices flowing), and watercoloring is something that I have always thought was really pretty. It is definitely something that I plan to keep learning about and practicing. So, hopefully you will be able to witness me progress!!

--> QUESTION: *(What is something creative that you enjoy doing (either currently or in the past)? What type of art intrigues you that you have never tried?)* LEAVE A COMMENT W/ YOUR ANSWER!!

-->LOOKING AHEAD: I have a project in mind which actually influenced the name of my blog: "Beneath The Surface". I recently came up with a poem, and made a sketch to go with it. I plan to do a watercolor of the sketch and post it with the poem, but I want to tweek my skills a little more, first! So, STAY TUNED!! :)
